I've really been enjoying the word dangly lately.
Anyways, I said I would be back with my TAIF project and yeah... technically it's one in the morning on Saturday but whatever right?
So yeah, mobiles was the prompt this time around. And if you haven't checked it out yet, GO NOW and see all the amazing projects the gals whipped up.
What I really love is the range of projects/interpretations we all have. And there are even some great examples for you hardcore scrappers as to using this prompt in scrapbooking/paper crafting.
When I started thinking about this prompt I decided I was going to make something to hang in my space - something I really wanted, something I would really love.
I have to admit something - I love crafting. But I don't really do it often. Mostly because I don't have any use for most crafts or the space for most crafts. I'm actually such a downer about it, because before I make something, I think "am I actually going to use that for anything?"
I know... take all the fun out of everything!
Anyways, I really really wanted to make something I would actually hang up in my home. I started surfing around my bookmarks and the many inspiration folders hanging out around my computer and I came across this tutorial on stick stars by A Foothill Home Companion.
Which after some planning and thinking, inspired me to make this:
(here's a little close up of each star, since they each have their own little personalities..)
Lots of knotting, tying and some beads here and there. I really enjoyed just knotting the hemp twine here and there and then adding bits of color wherever I felt like it.
I love these so much and I know it's something I probably never would have done without this prompt and the push to try something new.
I wish I had more than plan white walls to show them against, some type of decor would be nice. I'm so excited for when Neil and I finally have our own place (in just a few more months!!!!) to find the perfect place to hang these. I love the woodsy, earthy vibe they bring.
So, I will quit rambling on (I'm doing that too much lately!) because you should be headed over to TAIF and get to playing!
I will leave you with this though.... someone in blogland made me cry today. good crying of course. back with that story later.... tomorrow will bring my ScrapMojo layout!
oooohhhhh suspenseful!
(and yeah, I realized after rereading my last blog post that I seriously go into waaaaayyy too much detail about the silliest things. like anyone really wanted to read in depth about my personal remedies to get some scrapbooking mojo back. i know. for some reason I really like to blabber on about the most random details and hope that someone, somewhere agrees they are as important as I think they are. i know. i know. shutting up now.)
