Have you ever felt like you are so so so so so the total opposite of some of the people you care about most in the world?
"you don't use limewire?"
no, I pay for my music on itunes.
"what's the big deal, it's just music?"
well, I believe in paying for it.
"you use vinegar to clean"
"all I can smell after she cleans is vinegar"
"does anything actually get clean?"
yes, I use vinegar to clean. baking soda too. no paper towels either.
"you don't drink milk?"
"what's wrong with milk?"
no. we stopped drinking milk. and if you must know about two weeks ago we tried to start again and Neil started getting horrible congestion and sinus problems just like before so we stopped.
"buffalo? turkey? that's health food, I want beef, I want real food."
ugggggghhhhhhhhhhh.
"you must eat tofu"
nope. I don't really enjoy/agree with modified soy products, which is why we also don't drink soy milk anymore.
"alternative feminine hygiene products? yuck!"
beats all the crappy waste and toxins. a little tiny adjustment to what i'm used to or a bit of inconvience to help spare the planet and my health?? no brainer for me.
"you.... are..... waiting..... to..... have..... kids....?? why?
because we want to. because we want to. because we want to!
I really could go on and on and on and on and on.
Because to me and my life these things are just my own common sense. But they are my common sense and I get that others live differently and that is fine.
Here's the rub though. I don't bash anyone for illegal downloading. I don't go out of my way to be rude or disrespectful to people who eat differently than me. I don't put people down for choosing this or that. Why is it that they feel like it's ok to dissect and put down my way of doing things??
These are my PERSONAL and INFORMED choices for my life.
and as much as I shouldn't say this, at least I can say they are informed! At least instead of poking fun, or tearing something down out of ignorance, I arm myself with information. Goodness knows, I'm not perfect, and geesh, I just try to the best I can, even I have had a friend email me a song or too. Even I eat random unknown meat from the supermarket once in awhile.... shoot, there's no way right now I can afford to eat they way I really want to!
Ok, I'm done. Just had to get that off my chest.
You do your thing. I'll do mine. And I won't bug you about yours. So can you please do the same for me?
Do you ever feel like you need to print out a pamphlet about your way of doing things just so you don't have to explain it thirty times? Sometimes I feel so dang defensive.
While I'm thinking about it... I want to start posting more on my blog about some of the stuff Neil and I are working on as far as being healthier and being more environmentally aware. We have been talking a lot lately about more things we would like to work on and find out about and I think it'd be cool to share, even get feedback!
Having said that - I am not trying to put anyone who does anything differently down. And while i may crack jokes, I am not trying to be offensive. If I can share what I do and turn someone else on to something, awesome. If I make someone else decide for ever to do the opposite, that's fine too.
Gonna go jump on organizing pics. I have tons and tons of amazing images of baby Carlee and am excited to start sharing them!
Happy Monday!
